History
City Guides, founded in 1978, is a non-profit organization with more than 300 trained volunteers who lead FREE history and architectural walking tours in San Francisco. We are a program of the San Francisco Public Library and are fiscally sponsored by the San Francisco Parks Alliance. Join us for a walk along the streets, sidewalks, and byways of America's most beautiful - and fascinating - city!
Specialties
City Guides volunteers are serious about sharing the fun of discovering San Francisco and its neighborhoods. Our purpose is to preserve and perpetuate the history and folklore of San Francisco and to celebrate its rich history of cultural diversity. And in the spirit of our primary sponsor, the San Francisco Public Library, we provide this service free of charge.
