The Chief Administrative Office, governed by the county of San Diego, is responsible for implementing the policy directives of the board of supervisors. It manages the county s day-to-day operations and functions. The office provides policy-based programs and financial decision-making support. The Chief Administrative Office also oversees the operations of more than 40 departments that offer health care, human, land use planning, public works, animal control and voter registration services. It administers departments that provide criminal justice programs and maintain parks and libraries. The office additionally manages the allocation of personnel, capital and budgetary resources within the county. It operates administrative services and general accounting divisions.
