Samoshel provides meals, shelter, case management, job services and other assistance for homeless individuals. The operation, which began in 1994 and was previously operated by the Salvation Army, became assimilated into Santa Monica's OPCC network in 2005.
Since its inception, Samoshel has sheltered more than 750 individuals, moved 288 people into transitional housing, moved 93 people in permanent housing, and facilitated employment for 95 clients. Seventy homeless adults are housed at Samoshel at any given time.
The operation also features 12-step meetings, as well as an on-site clinician who provides therapy, legal aid, housing referrals, job assistance and crisis intervention.
