As the American shoe manufacturing industry diminishes, it seems nearly every designer has moved their manufacturing operation offshore. This cost-cutting measure can result in the sacrifice of quality and individualized service. At Salpy Shoes, all aspects of design and manufacturing are done domestically, here in Southern California, by skilled craftsmen and women. This gives Salpy the chance to take her customer service to the "extreme" level, as her factory is a few steps away from her office. This produces quality in every step of the shoe-making process, and yields a truly elegant shoe. Each pair that is purchased stimulates our local and national economy, as Salpy Shoes supports ( and relies upon ) many Southern California businesses and businesses across the United States. The pricing of of a pair of Salpy shoes directly reflects both the amount of work it takes to create it, and the value of the materials it is composed of.It began six years ago by Kevork and Salpy Kalaidjian, a husband and wife team with the background to operate a small, high fashion line. Salpy started out in retail fashion as a dress buyer for Bullocks, gaining an extensive knowledge of the composition of a stylish product. Kevork started out as a last and heel model sculptor, and is an expert in the construction of a shoe. The duo works together to create new designs.Today, Kevork is considered to be one of the finest in the industry. He occasionally gives lectures to students in the advanced footwear design program at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. His aptitude for the engineering of a shoe, combined with his artistic talent, has helped Salpy Shoes to offer something fresh and unique.
