History
St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church had its beginning in December 1945 at 105 Sunset Avenue in San Jose, California in the home of Mr. Samuel Hodge and Mrs. Mable Hodge, and a group of ten Christians living in the area that saw a need for a Baptist Church. The church was lead by Pastor Emeritus J.D. Houston. In October of 1955, with only six members, the first church building was purchased at 2192 Lausett Avenue. In 1957, the Church's membership increased to 75 . June 21, 1963, we had a membership of 205.We broke ground for our present church building, 1930 E. San Antonio Street, on August 16, 1966. It was completed the following year. The Mortgage Burning Ceremony took place March 20, 1983. Under the new leadership of now retired Emeritus Pastor Dr. York Hayes, the three phase construction project began and is still in progress. On July 9, 2009, we broke ground and have completed Phase I. We are currently working on Phases II and III. We currently have five ministers..
