SafeLaunch is a science-based, non-political, non-judgmental organization focused on transforming society’s understanding of the disease of addiction to prevent and/or delay the first exposure to addictive substances for as long as possible. Founded in 2010 by three highly creative parents: a retired Navy commander, a registered nurse, and a small business owner, SafeLaunch enlists the professional skills of the best minds in prevention to drive their actions, because prevention must include action as well as education. SafeLaunch is a catalyst for research, self-studies of the disease, and media involvement to inform Americans that 90% of addiction begins in adolescence. When students are exposed to addictive substances, they are up to six times more susceptible to developing the disease.
