An African wildlife preserve and African tent camp, Safari West is a wild life sanctuary, preserving wildlife through breeding, education, research and public interaction. Founded in 1989, the sanctuary is home to zebras, giraffes, cheetahs and many more creatures. It is in association with the American Zoo and Aquarium Association. Based in Santa Rosa, Calif., Safari West also offers safari adventure tours, private safaris and many more. The animals present in the Safari West are pigeon, Victoria crowned, ibis, waldrapp, ibis, scarlet, guinea fowl, Kenya crested and many more. It also has fine dining, lodging and fun activities options within the sanctuary. Safari West Wildlife Foundation (SWWF), a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization supports the objectives of Safari West by providing research and educational information on wildlife.
