Established in the 1850s, Silverado Museum is a nonprofit organization recognized by The Vailima Foundation. Based in St Helena, Calif., the museum houses a huge collection of over 9,000 items of Stevensoniana. The collection comprises original letters, manuscripts, journals, first variant, translations, sculptures, photographs, rare periodicals, paintings, drawings, early and presentation editions and childhood letters and drawings. Additionally, the museum stocks books, notes and poems written by Stevenson, girondole mirror, toll road sign and a box. The visitors at the museum come from all 50 states and 81 foreign countries. Researchers and scholars can make use of the library for academic purpose as well as show interest in Robert Louis Stevenson's life and works.
