History
Prevent Blindness Northern California was started by 3 prominent opthalmologists from Stanford and was one of the pioneer preschool vision screening programs in the country. In the past 40+ years, we have screened over a million people, resulting in the detection of thousands of cases of potentially blinding eye diseases that were caught while still in a treatable stage. Thanks to our over 300 volunteers, we are able to provide direct vision screening services to about 25,000 children and 1,000 adults annually.
