The Peninsula Youth Theatre (PYT), a non-profit arts organization, provides local children over three and a half years of age with the opportunity to sing, dance and act in an environment that builds self-esteem and character. These children can then audition to perform in a musical theatre production.
Over 5,200 children since 1992 have taken part in PYT's vast array of CenterStage musical performances, which have included "Annie," "The Wiz," "The Pirates of Penzance," and "Seussical," just to name a few. Thousands have participated in the theatrical arts progams and almost 200,000 Bay Area children have seen the shows.
PYT does offer scholarships for a maximum of two children per family in need. Scholarships do not cover the costs of costumes or other production-related expenses.
For the Mountain View community, PYT offers a 10-week drama course for children in both public and private schools through their program "School Play in a Box." At the end of the program, the students perform for their school and parents.
