From its humble beginnings in 1963 the Benicia Peddlers Fair has grown to an event that takes over the heart of the historic downtown and gives some 20,000 bargain hunters a place to part with their dollars. Antique and collectible dealers from thoughout the country make the Peddlers Fair a stop on their summer circuit. Hard-core shoppers are easy to spot. They have flashlights in their back pockets and bags under thier eyes because they showed up at 4 a.m. to get the best deals. Proceeds from the Peddlers Fair support the St. Pauls Historic Trust. The Peddlers Fair is held the second Saturday in August.
