Camp Herms
Named after W.B. Herms, a former Council President in the early 1900s, this camp is open year-round and used as a Cub Scout Day Camp during the summer. It has a meeting lodge, campsites and sleeping shelter, and is the base for the Fages Historic Trail. Camp Herms is the meeting site for the local branch of the Boy Scouts of America. The Herms District covers troops in Albany, Berkeley, Crockett, East Richmond, El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Hercules, Kensington, Pinole, Port Costa, Richmond and San Pablo. This site has been in existence for around 80 years and has historic buildings as well as modern, freshly painted buildings. It was converted from the Bates and Borland Quarry in 1929 and has a rich history of local contributions from residents and companies of Berkeley and El Cerrito.
