The Ontario Fire Department has nearly 10 stations that are comprised of eight four-man paramedic engine companies and two four-man truck companies. The department responds to nearly 15,000 calls per year serving and protecting a city population of approximately 170,373. The fire operations division of the department is responsible for disseminating an annual fire budget of 23 million dollars. The deputy chief of operations supervises a total of nearly 130 uniformed personnel. The highly trained teams provide specialized assistance and knowledge in the areas of bomb squad, hazardous materials, heavy rescue and dive. Fire operations oversee the training and paramedic divisions, manpower and personnel, equipment and apparatus acquisition, fire station maintenance and specifications for firefighters personal protective equipment.
