Established in 1914, Neighborhood House Association is one of the largest nonprofit, multipurpose human services agencies in San Diego. It provides food, employment, health and senior care, education and other social services through a network of more than 17 programs in over 130 locations. The organization s programs focus on several areas, such as teenage pregnancy and AIDS prevention, childhood development, mental health care, nutrition, housing and emergency assistance services. Its Head Start program is a federally funded child development program for low-income children and their families. Neighborhood House Association s Early Head Start program provides intensive and comprehensive child development and family support services to pregnant women and families with children under 3 years of age. Its adult day health care program provides nursing, psychosocial nutrition counseling, and occupational and physical therapy activities to adults who have physical and mental health problems that affect their ability to perform daily living activities.
