The Napa Emergency Women's Services is a non-proft organization that serves the women of the county of Napa. Women who suffer from domestic violence and sexual abuse find in NEWS a safe and nurturing environment. The center has a 24-hour emergency service taking calls offering emergency shelter. The organization was launched in 1981 by community members who saw a crisis in the community for abused women, who at the time were often taken in at each of their homes for shelter. The center's vital programs wouldn't be possible today without the valuable work of its volunteer base.
