Founded in 1889, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) is the union of city letter carriers employed by the U.S. Postal Service. Based in San Luis Obispo, Calif., NALC has several departments, including Contract Administration Unit, Legislative and Political Action Department, City Delivery Department, Safety and Health Department, Compensation Department and others. NALC offers health benefits to its members under its Health Benefit Plan along with retirement benefit. It has a Mutual Benefit Association catering to the welfare of members and their families. NALC is affiliated with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) and with UNI, which is an international alliance of communications unions.
