The Mother Lode Land Trust (MLLT) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the agricultural, natural, and historic landscapes of the Mother Lode and Central Sierra region for the benefit of present and future generations. Established in 1990, MLLT works with landowners to place conservation easements on their properties, limiting residential and commercial development while allowing them to retain ownership. With a service area that spans Amador, Alpine, Calaveras, Tuolumne, and El Dorado Counties, MLLT offers a conservation alternative to urbanization and development, ensuring the protection of rural heritage.
Guided by a knowledgeable Board of Directors and supported by an Advisory Board, MLLT engages in various activities such as monitoring and mapping conservation easements, maintaining relationships with landowner partners, and serving as ambassadors for specific ranches. Volunteers can also contribute by assisting with newsletters, brochures, outreach activities, and joining committees or the Board. Through their efforts, MLLT aims to safeguard the natural beauty and cultural significance of the region, creating a sustainable future for the communities it serves.
