The Morongo Tribal TANF Program (MTTP) is a federally and state funded program administered by the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. It aims to support and encourage Native American self-reliance by providing time-limited assistance, cash aid, and supportive services to eligible Native American families with children, while promoting cultural preservation, healthy families, education, and career development.
MTTP is one of the 74 approved Tribal TANF programs in the nation and one of the 17 Tribal TANF programs in California. It offers education and job training, emergency assistance, prevention services, and family formation services to enhance the employability of parents and caretaker relatives, with the goal of achieving self-sufficiency. The program serves Morongo Tribal members residing in Riverside County, Morongo descendants residing in Riverside County (excluding the city of Riverside), and members or descendants of a federally recognized Tribe or CA Judgment Roll residing on the Morongo Reservation.
