The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health is administered by the government of Los Angeles County in California. The department is one of the largest mental health service systems in the United States. It offers a range of mental health services, including assessments, crisis intervention, case management and medication support. The department serves citizens in residential and outpatient settings. It operates more than 50 program sites throughout the county and has contracts with over 1,000 service providers, including nongovernmental agencies and individual practitioners. The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health offers the Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS), which are short-term intensive intervention programs that provide support to children suffering from a life crisis.
