Three blocks removed from the hustle and bustle of Park Street, McKinley Park is a historic and pleasant escape, perfect for families and children. Boasting a wide range of facilities, including a full basketball court, simple volleyball court, picnic tables and grills, a jungle gym and sand lot, the park truly has something for almost everyone, regardless of age. Developed as part of the first wave of municipal parks, McKinley Park was constructed along with Lincoln and Washington parks between 1908 and 1909 as some of the first parks in the city. Named for William McKinley, the 25th president of the United States, the park is bordered by several large palm and oak trees, which create a nice mixture of shade and sun on the park's large rectangular lawns.
