History
Manzanita was the first Charter school granted approval by the West Contra Costa Unified School District. The school was established by Richmond families looking to create a school of choice for their students. Over the years, Manzanita has stayed largely the same small, family-centered community it has always been where parents, guardians and other family members contribute to student success by taking part in day-to-day activities. The school has recently moved to a model of smaller class sizes, enhanced its technology, and begun offering classes in technology, music and foreign languages.
Specialties
Manzanita offers small class sizes (20-25 students or fewer per class), advanced technology, and specialized classes for every student, including computer science, music and foreign language. Manzy families are an integral part of the school day.
