Located in San Francisco, the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children who suffer from various life-threatening medical conditions. Founded in 1984, the foundation is one of the largest chapters in the United States and grants more than 300 wishes each year. The foundation serves children between the ages of 2 and 18 in Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Marin, Monterey, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Siskiyou, Solano and Sonoma counties in California. It is supported by financial contributions from individuals, corporations and clubs. The foundation organizes various fundraising events, including auction, music and dance shows. The Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation is a part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is one of the largest wish granting charitable organizations worldwide. It has more than 69 chapters in the United States and its territories.
