Children's Home Society Of California

For over 129 years, Childrens Home Society of California (CHS) has adapted to the changing needs of children and families. Since 1891, CHS has worked diligently to protect our communitys children and strengthen their families through diverse programs and services. At CHS, we view a child not in isolation, but in the context of each familys health, stability, and resources. We believe that families are fundamentally strong and resilient. Childrens Home Society of California is a nonprofit organization that is governed by a Board of Directors, made up of dedicated volunteers from throughout California. The President of CHS leads the agency and conserves our most significant asset, the CHS Endowment. The President oversees program services, agency operations, and program development efforts, as well as program enhancement departments including Community Outreach, Quality Assurance, and Best Practices & Outcomes. This is accomplished with the vital assistance and support of key staff and the work of highly-trained program staff. The Friendly Church of God In Christ is headed by Pastor and First Lady T. E. Hammonds. It is a small congregation but offers the full schedules and ministries as much larger congregations in the area. The main service is celebrated on Sunday mornings, along with Bible study and prayer groups prior to the service. There is childcare available for younger children, but students also have their own study groups on Sunday mornings. There’s also prayer services and Bible study throughout the week. It is a Christian religious group that hosts a youth ministry, a singles ministry and a choir that leads the congregation in religious song.
