Lise la Cour is from Copenhagen, Denmark. She trained at The Royal Danish Ballet School and joined the Royal Danish Ballet where she performed soloist and principal roles. Her teachers included Hans Brenaa, Erik Bruhn, Vera Volkova and Stanley Williams. While performing with the Royal Danish Ballet, Ms. la Cour had the honor of working with George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Kenneth MacMillan, Flemming Flindt, Roland Petit, and John Neumeier. Ms. la Cour served as the Associate Ballet Director for the Royal Danish Ballet, a freelance choreographer for the Royal Danish Opera and Opera San Jose. Her choreography ranges from full length children's fairy tale ballets to choreography that has won first place at the Grand Prix Italia. From 2002-2012 Ms. la Cour was the School Director for Ballet San Jose School. In February 2012, Ms. la Cour formed Lise la Cour's LaCademy of Ballet for elite classes.
