Leucadia Children's School is a preschool that accepts children age 2 through pre-K. The little red schoolhouse on Vulcan Avenue can enroll 45 children, split into four classes. Owners Cathy Strother and Joanne Lehner operate the school, which has been teaching children in North County since 1976. The backyard has a half-acre playground with several large shade trees, sandbox, swing sets and climbing structures. The academic program emphasizes social development, motor skills, art, learning skills and having fun. Tuition is charged on a monthly basis regardless of attendance.
