The League of Volunteers has been serving children, senior citizens and low-income families in Newark, Fremont and Union City for more than 30 years. Staff members say they will not turn any donation away.
Program Director Joanne Paletta says their volunteers range from ages 5 to 87. The League's food pantry operates all year. The League also serves as a referral service for drug and alcohol abuse counseling and housing assistance for the homeless.
The League has an Arts and Schools program for children and high school students, who may also earn service hours through their volunteer work. The League of Volunteers shares its space with a school and Morning Star Church.
