History
King Harbor Yacht Club is A non profit public benefit corporation established to promote the sport of sailing among youth. The Foundation was established in 1982 and has proud history of helping young people learn both the basic and competitive side of Sailing. Participation is open to all youth in the South Bay Area and beyond. KHYF Sailing Center is located on the premises of the King Harbor Yacht Club in Redondo Beach and uses its facilities .
Specialties
King Harbor Youth Foundation conducts 2 programs. Summer Sailing Program : a 9 week program which teaches basic and advanced techniques in sailing. Children 8-18 enroll in a 2 week basic sailing ourse which includes classroom and on the water instruction. Prior experience not necessary and all equipment is provided. Following the basic course sailors can continue on to intermediate and advanced sailing instruction Junior Race Program : is for sailors who want to test their sailing skills in organized youth regattas. The co-Ed teams range in age fron 8-12 and 13-18 years. They complete in a variety of boats From single handen Optimist to langer racing boats (FJ) with regular competition throughout Southern California and National levels. The foundation provides Coaches, equipment and grants for sailors.
