Hokka Nichi Bei Kai, also known as JAANC Japanese American Association of Northern California, is the oldest Japanese American Community organization established in 1895. For over a hundred years, JAANC has continuously worked to better relations between Japanese Americans and the general public, supporting the various disciplines of Japanese culture and providing facilities for cultural activities.
JAANC's mission is to promote a harmonious community by fostering understanding and appreciation of the culture of Japan, as practiced in America. They offer support to the primarily Japanese-speaking Japanese American community, organize Japanese language speech contests, and house a renowned Tea Ceremony facility. Additionally, JAANC is working on documenting the history of the Japanese American Community in Northern California and plans to establish the BUNKA HALL OF FAME to honor outstanding personalities in the field of Japanese culture.
