Filling a unique niche in book retailing, Hennessey + Ingalls Art & Architecture Bookstore fills over 8,000 square feet with shelves full of books about art, design and architecture. The shop used to be located on the 3rd Street Promenade, and moved in 2003 to its present location. Books are divided into subjects that include art technique, graphic design, construction, architects, regional photography, photographers, landscaping, photo technique, gardening, fashion design, home improvement, transportation and interior design. A room in the back features a collection of rare and out-of-print selections. Hennessey + Ingalls also publishes a small catalogue of titles. Books on local interests and topics are also featured in the store. Architectural firms, museums, collectors, art galleries, designers and schools across the country are among clients of the store. Reginald Hennessey founded the store, which is still family owned and operated.
