History
The Healdsburg Jazz Festival has been conducting an annual jazz festival in Healdsburg and the surrounding wine country since 1998. Founded by Jessica Felix, the volunteer-based organization has grown from a three-day festival to 10 days of jazz concerts, jazz workshops, film, documentary, and educational events for music fans of all ages. The Healdsburg Jazz Festival also hosts jazz concerts and events throughout the year, and conducts educational programs focused on jazz in the local area K12 schools.
Specialties
Over two decades is quite a long time for an underdog festival to exist, but with determination and ambition, the Healdsburg Jazz Festival has become a beloved cultural fixture of the Sonoma County area. Trios and quartets, big bands and small combos and solo artists from a wide range of jazz styles - for over 20 years, the best of America's musical gift to the world has come to Healdsburg. The Healdsburg Jazz Festival stimulates interest in and promotes awareness and appreciation of jazz by facilitating cross-cultural interaction, providing performance opportunities, and educating young people and adults about the important role of jazz as an indigenous American art form. Founded in 1999, the Festival has flourished into an annual event featuring performances from some of the most renowned musicians world-wide. The Healdsburg Jazz Festival also produces and promotes regular jazz performances in the area year-round, and sponsors and organizes educational programs and concerts for children and adults.
