Dr. Hansen C. Bow is a UCI Health neurosurgeon who specializes in spine surgery. His clinical interests include cancers of the spine, minimally invasive spine surgery, degenerative back and neck disorders and general neurosurgery. Bow received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Md., where he won the Harold Strong Denison Research Scholar and Harvey Cushing Research awards. He completed a residency in neurosurgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. He also holds a PhD and master's degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, where he majored in computer science and electrical engineering. His research interests are focused on improving neurosurgical operations. Using his engineering background, he has developed 3D-printed anatomical models for surgical planning and patient education. He is the author of multiple published articles on simulators for surgical education. Bow, who is fluent in Mandarin.
