History
Sometimes you meet the right person at just the right time and it changes your life forever. In 1992 in Los Angeles, Karl Kresser and Juliane Grosso went on their first date. And then a second. And then a third, to the Napa Valley because they discovered they both shared an intense love of wine. From that first date, an entire life together blossomed into existence, spanning the globe as they visited wine regions in Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Australia, and New Zealand. In the end, there's no place like home. In 2005, Karl and Juliane started looking for the perfect place in California to put down roots; both literal and figurative. The search took awhile (almost everything worth doing with wine does), but their patience paid off. In 2012, they closed escrow on twenty-two acres (fourteen with old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon grapes) in Paso Robles, complete with a stunning estate house.
Specialties
The Grosso Kresser Estate is twenty-two acres of sloping paradise overlooking a valley in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles. With calcareous hills and a warm, coastal climate--the estate is ideal for growing Cabernet and Bordeaux-style varietals. Our 14 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon are almost 50 years old and enjoy the influence of the ocean that is just 20 miles away. Hot days and cool nights make for happy well balanced grapes.
