Golden Legend acquires and sells rare books and fine prints. Since 1981, the company has specialized in collecting original works of art and antiquarian books such as a beautifully bound 1818 novel and a 17th century prayer book. This is not a commercial bookstore open to the public; founder Godon Hollis offers his services by appointment.
The print inventory at Golden Legend is extensive, featuring lots of elegant images centered on dance, theater and costumes. The pieces are generally priced between $1,000 and $3,000, although some extremely rare prints go for more than $20,000.
Hollis is active in the antiquarian book and art world and is a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America, the Society of Dance History Scholars, the American Society of Theater Research and the Grolier Club.
