The late John and Betty Mabee started Golden Eagle Farm in 1972 and bred and raced some of California's most celebrated horses, including five Kentucky Derby starters. Son Larry Mabee now runs the family business. More than 130 stakes winners have come from the breeding program. Best Pal, General Challenge, Dramatic Gold and Excellent Meeting are some of the horses raced by the Mabees. The farm has boarding services with seven barns and more than 150 paddocks.
