History

Joseph Welch bought the land in 1867 it became the Welch's Big Trees Resort, which is where the current old-growth redwood grove stands. In 1930 Santa Cruz County bought the 120 acres, which included the incomparable 40-acre Big Tree Grove. By 1950, there was only one member of the Cowell family left. Samuel

Food was good wholesome cuisine. Outdoor seating was nice. Very quaint little spot for a healthy breakfast.
