With membership at over 400 individuals and families, the Friends of the San Rafael Public Library is an active group that volunteers to fundraise and advocate for the library. The main fundraising activity is the Friends Books bookstore located downtown, which sells new, nearly-new and gently-used books (plus, some CDs, DVDs and books-on-tape) to raise funds for the library and summer reading programs. Volunteers help by organizing book sales, researching rare books, mending broken library books, sorting donations and more.
