One of Long Beach Unified's top-performing schools, Fremont has been named a California Distinguished School. Attended by students in the Belmont Shore neighborhood of Belmont Heights, Fremont was recently visited by U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius. She helped in the dedication of the school's new salad bar. She heralded the school's effort, and that of students, to teach and practice good nutrition and healthy choices in diet and exercise. The PTA is notably easygoing, and the members are powerhouse fundraisers, one lemonade stand at a time.
