History
Foxfield was founded by Bill and JoAnn Postel and JoAnn's twin sister, Nancy Turrill. The two ladies had worked as trainers for many years and wanted a place of their own so they could inspire riders - young and old alike - to be good horse people.
Specialties
Foxfield Riding School has been teaching students the art and science of English riding since opening its doors on May 1, 1967. Several generations of riders have gone through the program, and more and more new faces show up to learn to ride every year. In fact, many of the top trainers in Southern California and even Olympic competitors began their careers at Foxfield. Foxfield offers both group and private riding lessons given by qualified instructors. There is also a resident summer camp for girls ages 9 to 15 that is open to seasoned riders as well as beginners who want to learn good horsemanship. Other annual events include rated and schooling horse shows, the popular Little Sisters program, clinics and playdays. There is a leasing program and stalls are available as well. Last but not least, Foxfield is home to the world famous Foxfield Equestrian Team, a group of young riders who perform an intricate drill routine riding horses without bridles or saddles.
