First Baptist Church as a congregation has been in the city since 1937, with the church building on Crystal Springs Road open for nearly as long - it was built in 1940. The congregation is a small group of believers who offer weekly Bible study groups—one of which is specifically for women. The AWANA Christian youth organization meets there every Wednesday.
