The City of Carlsbad Fire Department is known among the firefighting world as being one of the best. It's an all-risk fire department providing fire, rescue, EMS and EMS transport. The Fire Department also has a Fire Prevention Division which makes sure buildings are up to code and does public education. The Fire Department has 1 truck, 5 engines, 3 medic units, 2 brush rigs, 1 command vehicle and 6 fire stations. The department has an emergency preparedness program and volunteer Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Fire Chief Kevin Crawford oversees the Carlsbad Fire Department.
