The Episcopal Church of The Ascension celebrates diversity. Episcopalians from as far as Orange County and Malibu come to hear the sermons of the Very Rev. Cannon Michael A. Bamberger and pride themselves on speaking to a combination of rich and poor and young and old.
The sect believes that spirituality must evolve. Thus, in the church's 125 years of existence, it has done just that.
The church building was destroyed in 1887 by a wind storm and rebuilt is 1888. That church is still standing. The 1991 earthquake did considerable damage to the church but was repaired.
Sunday sermons are at 7:30 a.m., 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.
