Environmental Alternatives is a nonprofit charitable corporation that specializes in residential treatment of children. It provides foster homes and group homes to about 500 children of all ages who have been removed from their parents homes by juvenile courts for a variety of reasons. Environmental Alternatives has been in existence since 1981 and operates programs in 15 northern California counties. EA receives money from the state for the normal care of children placed in foster homes but accepts tax-deductible charitable gifts to help provide extra care and benefits. EA is licensed by the state of California to operate residential care facilities. It is also chartered as a tax-exempt corporation by California and recognized as a charitable corporation under IRS section 501(c)3. Its main office is in Quincy, Calif.
