This little bakery and market is the only Mexican bakery in Santa Cruz. Pastries are made on-site, with bakers arriving at 2am to have the goods ready by 7am. El Rosal also makes large, authentic tamales which are served steaming hot for $1.25 each. The roof is hung with the largest pinata selection in Santa Cruz, and the walls are stacked with toys and goodies to use as stuffing in the Watsonville-made pinatas. The store is owned by Jorge Hernandez, whose family also runs Hernandez Market on Ocean Street, and two bakeries in Watsonville.
