Established in 1976, Community Resources for Independence is a nonprofit organization that advances the rights of persons with disabilities to equal justice, access, opportunity and participation in communities. It provides services to increase choices, opportunities and independent living for people with disabilities. Community Resources for Independence offers training, benefit counseling, advocacy, peer support, housing resources, personal assistance, assistive technology resources, support groups, community relations and information and deaf services. Its housing access modifications program is locally funded and provides accessible modifications to consumers homes, such as ramps, lifts, grab bars, and visual and auditory aids. Community Resources for Independence is headquartered in Santa Rosa, Calif.
