Your fellow diners at this 50-year-old surf-and-turf standby are politicians and business people from throughout Alameda County; if you have any sort of public life, you've attended a meeting or banquet here. Folks are drawn by familiar standards carefully prepared, with emphasis on locally sourced fresh vegetables. There never was a Dino; founder Norman "Bing" Fong, a San Francisco restaurateur and sometimes nightclub crooner, noted several Chinese eateries in his desired new location and figured he'd try something else. Aaron Fong and partner Peter Thai (and Peter's son Vinnie) now run the place. Local art graces the walls and a full bar next to the dining room offers live entertainment (mostly '60s-'90s bands) on Friday and Saturday nights. Breakfast is served on weekends, and early bird dinners and extensive banquet and catering options area available.
