The history of the DiMare Fresh companies began with a pushcart filled with produce on the streets of Boston more than 75 years ago. The first DiMare company was created prior to 1930. By 1939, the company was marketing its produce nationally. The DiMare company was one of the first New England companies to import tomatoes directly from Cuba. By doing this, the company was able to provide a year-round supply to customers. In 2003, the company established a nationwide network of repack distribution centers with the creation of the first DiMare Fresh company and began to service out of five additional locations throughout the United States. The company now operates at nearly 10 facilities located in California, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Florida and is able to service approximately 90 percent of the country s population. Its production includes tomatoes, citrus, melons and vegetables. DiMare Fresh maintains a location in Sacramento, Calif.
