History
Lineage of the USKL Dojo: The Statewide Karate League (SKL), was founded by Walter K. Nishioka originating out of Hawaii 1963. In 1965 Nishioka and R. Nakano open a dojo in Riverside CA. Dean Pickard from which received his black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate. In 1974 Dean opened a dojo in Claremont naming it United States Karate League. In 1976 Ty Aponte received his black belt and opened his dojo in 1977 naming it: Upland Shotokan Karate League - Defense Arts Center. With Karate as the dojo's main training program. The dojo offers multiple Budo (martial arts) programs taught under one roof.
