History
In 1981, a small group of individuals worked together to create a safe place where women would be offered services surrounding an unplanned pregnancy free of charge. A committee was formed to begin a non-profit organization. We first opened our doors in March of 1983 in a small cottage in Pacific Grove. In 1997, we moved to Monterey to become a state-licensed medical clinic. We have served thousands of women and families through all these years. We desire to offer help and hope during a difficult time in a woman's life. 98% of the women we serve are very pleased with our services and many refer their friends to us.
Specialties
We specialize in providing a safe environment for a woman to receive medical services. She is able to speak with a client advocate about her situation and decision regarding an unplanned pregnancy. Our past clients have shared that coming to the Compassion Pregnancy Center was a turning point for them. Whether a client choses to carry or choses to terminate, she knows we care for her and would welcome her back if she needed us again. We do not have a financial stake in the clients we serve so that frees us to be fully present with her, looking for ways we can improve her situation. Our practical support provides needed items for pregnancy and caring for a newborn. This clinic is here to serve women and if we do not have immediate help for her we will refer her to another agency for the kind of help she needs.
