A vast grassy expanse on the city's north side, Community Park is punctuated by several one-of-a-kind interactive attractions. Rainbow City is a vast handcrafted wooden play structure — complete with swings, slides and crawl-tunnels — that looks a lot like a castle. One wall features tiles painted by local schoolkids. Next to a fenced dog-walking area, the concrete skate park includes long straightaways, tubes, smooth curved craters and plenty more obstacles to obsess kids for hours. A sand-floored volleyball court, baseball diamond, Olympic-sized swimming pool, grill-equipped picnic areas and bike trails are also popular park attractions. Every Fourth of July, Community Park is packed with thousands of "ooohing" and "ahhhing" spectators all peering skyward at some pretty spectacular fireworks.
