History
Civicorps' mission is to re-engage young adults, age 18-26, so they can earn a high school diploma, gain job skills, pursue college, and embark on family sustaining careers. In 1983, Civicorps was founded as one of the first local conservation corps in California (formerly called East Bay Conservation Corps) to provide meaningful environmental work experiences and educational opportunities for youth. Determined to improve educational outcomes, in 1995, we received our charter by Oakland Unified School District to become a high-school diploma program for 18-26 year olds.
